Lionel Messi’s future in Barcelona is the subject of speculation that culminates when entering into contract talks, but his former coach, Pep Guardiola, is not interested in the possibility of a reunion at Manchester City.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes Barcelona will have a vacancy that is impossible for anyone to fill when Lionel Messi leaves Barcelona.
But Guardiola has refused to attract the Argentine genius to leave the Nou Camp.
It is known that Messi has won every award in the game, including six Ballon d’Or and City is one of the few clubs in the world that can match the salary of 1 million pounds per week received by Messi in Spain.
It remains to be seen whether City are willing to make a move for Messi to reunite with Guardiola after they have had a successful time together while at Barca.
Guardiola gave no indication if he wanted to recruit someone who was almost 33 years old, but he admitted that Barcelona would one day have to face the prospect of life without Messi.
He believes his departure in the future will be as difficult for Barca as Real Madrid who lost Cristiano Ronaldo when they left for Juventus in 2018.
Guardiola said: “That is inevitable, because these players are very important. When Messi left Barca, they needed some time to readjust. That was inevitable. These people scored 40 or 50 goals in one season.”
